Thursday- Concert in the Plaza
If you plan on getting out here before all the craziness of the weekend traffic, The second-to-last Concert in the Plaza is a great way to kick off the weekend. This summer-long event is a ton of fun and this performance will be by The Dune Hoppers, a folk, bluegrass, swing band.
Head downtown to Plaza de la Constitución for this musical event. Concert in the Plaza is a family-friendly event that starts at 7 pm. Be sure to arrive early if you want a good spot!
Friday- First Friday Art Walk
Head on back to Downtown St. Augustine for the First Friday Art Walk. All the local art galleries open their doors to welcome visitors every month. Here you can see all the best contemporary, modern, and traditional art as you walk around and enjoy it.
A lot of the artists will be there on hand to talk to if you have any questions about their art. The walk starts raining or shining at 5 pm and goes on until 9 pm.
Saturday- Founder’s Day Celebration
The 458th Founder’s Day Celebration honors the first moment Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles first set foot on Florida and claimed it for Spain on September 8th, 1565. The place where he made landfall is currently known as the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche.
At 10 am there will be a live reenactment of the landing at Mission Nombre de Dio. Then at noon, there will be activities at the Fountain of Youth Park.
Sunday- Dark of the Moon Tour
Dig a little deeper into the history of St. Augustine. The Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour at the St. Augustine Museum is perfect for older kids who love ghost stories. This is an hour-and-a-half to two-hour guided tour where you will learn about the history of the lighthouse and listen to all the ghost stories about the people who have lived, worked, and visited the lighthouse. Oh, and the only light you have to guide you, is a glow stick.
On this day, the tour starts at 8:30 pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance and arrive 15 minutes early.
Monday- Relax
